Echinacea and Diabetes

Does Echinacea affect blood sugar or insulin levels? Some herbs change these levels and diabetics are not supposed to take them. I didn’t see anything about this in the literature, but I would like to know for sure.

We could not find anything in the literature to suggest that echinacea should not be taken by diabetics. Echinacea is a potent immunostimulant and as such it should be used with caution when autoimmune disease is suspected. You should check with your health care provider because some forms of diabetes may be caused by autoimmune responses.
