I know that you can’t take goldenseal when you are pregnant but what about Echinacea? I normally take a combo of the two to prevent colds and have had 100% success. However, now that I am pregnant I can’t take the combo and I feel a cold coming on.

In pregnancy it is best to avoid medications, including herbal medication, if possible. Increasing fresh, raw fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds in your diet is a good way to increase your immunity. Although Echinacea is not contraindicated in pregnancy, it is best that no medications are taken without consultation with a health care practitioner.
