I suffer from sinus headaches and allergies. Is there a herb that can help me? Also I saw on television a program about PS for memory. Can you tell me more about this product.

I don’t know about the PS product.

The sinuses become blocked by excessive secretions from allergies or infections. Vitamins A, C and E help to prevent sinus problems and allergies. Foods rich in Vitamin A are carrots, turnips, spinach, beet greens; fresh fruits and vegetables are high in vitamin C; nuts, seeds, pulses (peas, beans, lentils) and green vegetables are good sources of vitamin E. Beet root contains vitamins A, C and E.

Sinus problems and allergies are aggravated by mucous forming foods such as dairy products, cereals, bread, cake, bananas. Stress and antibiotics decrease immune resistance and digestive functioning, leading to repeated infection.

Thomas Bartram in "Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine" (Grace Publishers, Mulberry Court, Stour Road, Christchurch, Dorset BH23 1PS, England) suggests the following herbs to drain the sinuses: Garlic (antibiotic, anti-viral, antihistamine, diaphoretic, expectorant – three fresh, raw cloves should be taken daily); The following herbs may be taken as teas:

* Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) is antibacterial, anti-viral and expectorant ;

* Plantain (Plantago major or Plantago lanceolata) is restorative to the mucous membranes, antihistamine, anti-bacterial, anti-allergy, expectorant, diuretic, lymphatic;

* Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia or Lavendula vera) is a strong antimicrobial;

* Wild Indigo (Baptisia tinctoria) root is antiseptic and an immune stimulant;

* Chamomile (Matricaria recutita) is anti-inflammatory, a digestive aid and a mild sedative.
