Do you know of any herbs that alleviate rosacea? They seem to occur concurrent with migraines and are exacerbated by heat, sun and variations in the weather.

Acne Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin disease where the grease producing glands of the skin over-produce. It is often associated with digestive disorders. Changes in diet and herbal support for the liver, digestion, adrenal and lymph glands are effective in clearing this condition.

In the diet, dairy products, oranges, pork, cured meats, white sugar or flour, alcohol, junk food, spices, caffeine should be completely eliminated. This means watching labels carefully for the addition of whey or lactose in eliminating dairy, avoiding all soft drinks and avoiding sweeteners in juices. A health food store can help you find alternatives.

An effective herbal combination is:

* Yellow dock (Rumex crispus) to support the lymph glands and digestion

* Oregon Grape root (Berberis aquifolium) to support the liver; it is very effective in dry skin conditions

* Borage (Borago officinalis) to support the adrenal glands

* German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita) to support digestion

The tinctures of the above herbs should be mixed, then take one 5 milliliter teaspoon of the mixture, three times a day, mixed in a little hot water to dissipate the alcohol in the tinctures.

Burdock (Arctium lappa) is also effective in this condition, but only a small amount should be used to avoid releasing toxins too quickly and causing a flare up in your skin - no more than 4 drops per dose.

At least eight glasses of water or herbal tea should be taken each day to help flush out the toxins. Chamomile tea and Dandelion "coffee" are helpful and can be taken freely.

You should notice an improvement in your skin and headaches within one to two weeks if the diet and herbal recommendations are followed.
