Herb Interactions

I was wondering how to tell what herbs I can take with each other. For example, can I take St. Johns Wort and Damiana?

Interactions of different herbs is a poorly understood area of herbal medicine. In most cases, little or nothing is known about how herbs interact. Of course, many traditional herbal remedies are combinations that are relatively well understood and known to be safe, or whose contraindications are well enough understood to be able to use and prescribe. But in cases such as St. Johnswort and damiana, we simply do not have enough data to know what the short or long term consequences of using both will be.
