Has sunflower oil have any holistic use?

Sunflower seed oil is rich in linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid necessary for cell maintenance. The oil helps to reduce cholesterol and blood pressure and prevent heart failure. The oil is best consumed in the form of the whole seed. To be of medicinal use as an oil, it must be freshly extracted by cold compression. Most vegetable oils, other than extra-virgin olive oil, are extracted using high heat and chemical additives to assure a long shelf life. Heat-treated oils can raise cholesterol and impair the immune system by preventing the conversion of fats into fatty acids.
