I’m 22 yrs old. My question is related to acne and related skin problems. I have had acne for quite some years now. About two years back, I consulted a dermatologist and got regular treatment. Afterwards my acne was controlled but it left some side effects like the redness of skin. Now my skin becomes red due to heat etc. and feels warm too. Is this rosacea? Which herbs should I use to control acne and also to control this redness. Is there a herb that soothes the skin and controls redness and acne? Which herb should be used and how should it be used?

Acne rosacea is a type of acne characterised by redness, primarily around the cheeks and nose. It most commonly occurs between the ages of 30 to 50.

If you were using a prescription drug to control your acne, this could be the cause of your current skin inflammation. Calendula is especially helpful for inflamed skin. Calendula creams are usually available in herb and health food stores. Calendula can also be taken internally as part of your treatment for acne. The diet is very important in controlling acne. There is information about diet and herbs for acne and acne rosacea on our web page at http://www.richters.com. Choose "Q&A" from the main menu, then enter "acne" or "rosacea" for the search.
