Quitting Smoking: Herb That Makes Cigarettes Taste Bitter?

I am looking for some herbs in capsule form that will make cigarettes taste bitter.

Lobelia is a herb that is a smoking deterrent. It acts similarly to nicotine, decreasing the need to smoke by making you feel as though you have already had a cigarette. I don’t know of a herb that makes cigarettes taste bitter.

Thomas Bartram, "Bartram’s Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine" (available at Richters) states that substances such as zinc may help by blocking the taste receptors. Sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds are rich in zinc, but zinc may taken in tablet or capsule form.

For more information on lobelia and on quitting smoking, please see our web site at www.richters.com. Choose "Q&A" from the main menu, then enter "smoking" for the search.
