I hope you can help me. I am going through menopause and have been for at least 3 years now. I am wondering if you know of something I can take to enhance my sexual drive. As of now I have lost all interest in sex. I am not taking any HRT meds. I am looking for something that is safe but effective. If you have any ideas I would sure appreciate the info. It is causing a gap in my relationship with my partner, and I would really like to fix it.

In menopause, ovulation slows and then stops, causing a decrease in sex hormones, often resulting in a decreased sex drive. A lack of sex drive is as often a problem of the mind as it is of the physical changes of menopause. Menopause indicates a change of life, so it is important to take the time to explore your life values and life activities, with the goal of living a life that is more fulfilling for you. Meditation, yoga and physical exercise are examples of activities that can help to bring your mind in touch with your heart’s desires.

Vaginal dryness, caused by the hormone changes, often contributes to a lack of sexual desire. For information on vaginal dryness, please see our website at www.richters.com. Choose "Q&A" from the main menu, then enter "vagina" for the search. Kegel exercises are most effective for keeping the sex organs healthy.

The B vitamins nourish the sex drive: include a little organic meat, poultry or fish, lots of leafy green vegetables and whole grains in your daily diet. Eliminate all foods that contain white flour and white sugar, robbing your body of vitamins and minerals.

Natural, organic, full fat yogurt with active bacterial cultures keeps both the digestion and the vaginal tissues healthy. Yogurt and other fermented foods are considered essential in traditional cultures to maintain vitality.
