I have suffered from sinus problems all my life. I have taken tablets to help subdue it such as Claratine and Clarinase, which seems to work okay. I was hiking one day and I heard some people say that the Trumpet Flower is good for people with asthma. They dry it and smoke it. I am wondering if it will also be good for sinus.

Datura stramonium, also known as trumpet flower, thorn apple and jimsonweed, is used as a smoking weed in asthma because it contains atropine and hyoscyamine, compounds that open the airways in asthma attacks. In asthma, the airways constrict, usually due to hypersensitivity. In sinus problems, the mechanism is different: the sinus cavities are usually plugged with mucus from infections.

Datura is an extremely potent herb. It should be used only under direction of a qualified practitioner. The therapeutic dose of datura is extremely close to a poisonous dose, which can cause death by accelerating the heart rate.
