My mother had a heart attack approximately 18 years ago and now suffers from congestive heart failure. She is also diabetic, suffers from high blood pressure, high cholesterol and renal failure. Will using hawthorn berries help to improve her condition?

I recommend consulting with a clinical or medical herbalist for a complete health assessment in complications such as your mother’s.

Hawthorn strengthens the heart and improves blood flow in the blood vessels of the heart. It may be used in the conditions you mention, depending on the prescription drugs your mother is taking. Digitalis is often prescribed in congestive heart failure. Hawthorn is not recommended with digitalis.
