Is mispero the herb good for diabetes?

I could be mistaken, but I believe mispero (Eriobotrya japonica) produces a fruit that is commonly referred to as loquat fruit in Australia. When I lived there we had two of these trees in our yard. The fruit is quite delicious and sweet and I do recall it is high in soluble fibre and of course fibre is important for blood sugar regulation. Other than that I do not have any personal experience with its use for diabetes. I am not at all familiar with the leaves and its uses. Regarding the fruit, the University of Arizona’s College of Medicine lists mispero as having a history of use with diabetes, however there does not seem to be any research confirming this.
