A friend of mine asked me what vitamin B6 does for the body? Can you give me some information on the health benefits of B6?

Vitamin B 6, otherwise known as pyridoxine, is a water soluble vitamin that belongs to the B complex group of vitamins. Considering it is a part of a complex tips one off to its importance of its role with all the other B vitamins and as a result one needs to be careful when supplementing it on its own as it can mask other B vitamins deficiencies when used in this way.

Vitamin B 6 specifically affects the various hormones production, metabolism, immune function, muscle function as well as important nervous system function and cardiovascular protection. It is used along with the rest of the B complex vitamins for calming and soothing the nervous stem helping to reduce anxiety, stress responses and liver detoxification.

Vitamin B 6 can be found in most foods but are readily destroyed by heat, food processing and refining. Egg yolks, yeast extracts, whole grains and green vegetables are good sources of B 6.
