I just ordered some plants from you and I was wondering: do you send directions and how to cultivate? Also why is Garlic not available in the United States?
With every shipment of plants we include directions on how to care for plants on arrival. After travelling 1-4 days without light or water, plants can look a little worse for wear. The directions tell you exactly what to do to get them back into tip top shape.
Each plant comes with a label that lists essential details such as its duration – annual, biennial or perennial – and if it is perennial, whether it is tender or not. The label also indicates, in most cases, what sun exposure the plant requires.
Apart from the above, more specific growing information, such as mature height, spread, flower colour and timing, hardiness zone, soil requirements, propagation, harvesting, etc., can be found in Deni Bown’s "Encyclopedia of Herbs & Their Uses" which we heartily recommend. The book is available from Richters.
To ship garlic bulbs to the United States requires special documentation. For the quantities home gardener ordinarily need (250 grams or 2 kilograms), the costs of government inspection is prohibitive. The USDA imposes this requirement on all shippers from outside the U.S.
