Arugula?

Thanks for opening up my email. I’ve just moved and starting another garden. Around 2 years ago I had two plants that I would like to have again. One tasted like cucumbers, the other like peanut butter. I know one of them was Arugula but I’m not sure what the other was. Can you help?

Tastes like peanut butter? Cucumber? Hmmm.... I don’t think arugula tastes like either, but then again taste and smell are partly subjective senses and different people will perceive the taste of arugula differently. If you are absolutely sure that arugula had to be either one, then I guess I would say it is more like peanut butter – but that to me is a big stretch.

Thanks for your reply but I was wondering if you might know of any plants that smell and taste like cucumber or peanut butter? I know they exist because I had them before but unfortunately I had to move and didn’t write the names down. Do you have any idea?

There are two common herbs that taste like cucumber. Borage definitely has a cucumber-like taste. Salad burnet has a nut-cucumber taste. Perhaps the latter is the one you had.
