Sweet Pink
Dianthus x hybrida 'Rainbow Loveliness'
Uses: Culinary/Aromatic Duration: Perennial (hardy in zones 4-8)
When to Sow: Spring/Late Summer/Early Fall Ease of Germination: Easy
One of the most delightfully fragrant herbs, with and intoxicating sweet aroma reminiscent of jasmine and rose that can even be enjoyed from quite a distance away! Delicate feathery blossoms in shades of pink, white and purple make beautiful cut flowers all summer long! Rather than for its colour, it is named for its petals which look like they’ve been cut with pinking shears. Blossoms are edible and are sure to brighten up summer salads. Plant as a border or in masses, in a spot where you can enjoy its fragrance as well as the sight of pollinators to your garden! Thrives in fertile, alkaline soil with good drainage in full sun. Can be sown in spring for summer flowers or in late summer for spring flowers the following year. Height 1.5 feet.
