Golden Sweet Pea
Pisum sativum 'Golden Sweet'
Duration: Annual
When to Sow: Spring Ease of Germination: Easy
A really special heirloom snow pea believed to be from India originally. The young pods are a bright light yellow, a rarity among peas. They are very sweet and crunchy, delicious raw right off the plants or in salads. When cooked the colour changes to a pale grey green outside and a deep emerald green inside. And if you let the pods mature, you get shelling peas which when dried turn tan, speckled with purple. The flowers too are unique changing from pale cream to soft sky blue and deep midnight blue flowers. Very vigorous, fast-growing, heavy yields. Reaches 150-180cm (5-6ft) and needs support. 60-70 days.
