I was wondering if there was a herb that could control snoring at night?

Thomas Bartram, in "Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine" (Grace Publishers, Mulberry Court, Stour Road, Christchurch, Dorset, BH23 1PS, England) states that the problem with snoring is that the soft palate may be relaxed, causing obstruction of the pharynx, and suggests an astringent gargle at bedtime to tighten it up. Asrtingent gargles can be made using Raspberry leaf or Sage tea. A relaxing Chamomile tea can encourage a deeper sleep.

Causes of the relaxed soft palate can include a the presence of a polyp, hypothyroidism or high blood pressure, which should be investigated, or alcohol or drugs.

Bartram suggests that "if snoring occurs only when sufferer sleeps on back - a cork sewed into pyjamas sometimes effective".
