My family has had a lot of endometriosis that has caused the women to have hysterectomies. Is there any type of natural substance that I could take to help prevent the possibility of getting this?

Endometriosis is the presence of tissue normally found on the uterus wall in abnormal sites within the gut wall. Thomas Bartram, in "Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine" (Grace Publishers, Mulberry Court, Stour Road, Christchurch, Dorset, BH23 1PS, England) states that incidence has increased since the introduction of the tampon and that vigorous exercise appears to reduce the risk of women developing the condition.
Other factors possibly involved in the development of endometriosis are hormone imbalance, diet and stress. The diet should be high in essential fatty acids (nuts, seeds and grains) and low in meat, dairy, sugar and refined foods. Caffeine and alcohol should be avoided.
