I would like to know if there is an herb that will help me sleep but not wake up in the morning with that groggy feeling.

None of the herbs used for insomnia are known to cause a groggy feeling on waking that is caused by some prescription medications. Valerian and Lemon Balm are particularly good. Valerian is used particularly when insomnia is caused by anxiety. Lemon balm is particularly useful when digestive problems or a "nervous tummy" prevent sleep. James Duke in "The Green Pharmacy" (available at Richters) states that in a study in the United Kingdom, "a combination of 160 milligrams of valerian and 80 milligrams of lemon balm extracts brought on sleep as well as a standard dose of the Valium family of pharmaceuticals".
