Ovarian Cyst

At present my doctor has me on a birthcontrol pill and it has caused my periods to be two per month. I am very unhappy about that because I went for one problem now I have two. My right ovary is larger than my left, the cyst is on my right ovary. Shouldn’t I have the cyst looked at considering my age of 44, and no previous problems with cysts in the past? Also, if they remove my ovary when and if they check it I do not wish to take estrogen supplements. Please advise me on what herbal treatment I could use.

No one know what causes ovarian cysts. Hormone imbalance and low immune functioning may encourage them. The herbal approach is to work on balancing hormones, improving blood flow to the ovaries, healing the cyst area with astringent and anti-inflammatory herbs and supporting immunity and general health with a natural whole food diet.

Herbs in combination with diet are effective for clearing ovarian cysts. I recommend that you work with a qualified herbalist or naturopathic doctor who will analyze and monitor all of your symptoms, and recommend dietary changes and a herbal protocol that will help you.

Books that will give you good information include Amanda McQuade Crawford’s "Herbal Remedies for Women" (Prima Publishing), and "Herbal Healing for Women" by Rosemary Gladstar (Simon & Schuster publisher).
