Help after Thyroid Removed

My mom recently had thyroid surgery for an underproductive thyroid gland which they removed. I was wondering if you could suggest an herb that might help balance her out now. I thought that I had heard something about selenium, but not sure if that was right or not. Just thought maybe you could give us a suggestion. Thanks

Usually, patients are put on thyroid hormones after removal of the gland. This medicine effectively balances hormones so that all thyroid symptoms are improved. Without taking these hormones, the thyroid symptoms are likely to remain. Symptoms may include fatigue, weight gain, joint pain, depression and constipation. If your mother is taking thyroid hormones and continues to have symptoms, she should consult her doctor, who can adjust the dose.

Herbal remedies are sometimes helpful for an underactive thyroid, but the most effective medicine after thyroid removal is the thyroid hormone.
