I recently received an article in the mail for weight loss. It says that Orthosiphon can be used to help lose weight. Do you know if this is true? I would appreciate your comment.

Orthosiphon is being promoted in products for weight loss. As far as I know, this herb would promote weight loss in the same way as other teas, both green and black - as a diuretic and to stimulate the metabolism. If it does help reduce weight, it would be a temporary loss only. A comprehensive plan that includes diet, exercise and a good mental and empotional attitude are needed for permanent weight loss. Please see our website at www.richters.com for more information on tea and on weight loss. Choose "Q&A" from the main menu, then enter "green tea" for one search and "weight loss" for a second search. For more information on Orthosiphon, enter "orthosiphon" for the search.
