What is a good herb to keep the kidney healthy?

Nettle seed is one of the best herbs for providing nutrition to the kidneys. It is used in conditions of kidney degeneration, and is taken in the form of an alcoholic tincture made from the fresh seed.

If you are self medicating, you should do some research first on how herbs are used as medicine. Herbs are used to correct imbalances in the body. If you are having a kidney problem, there may be other body systems that are involved and that need attention in order to resolve the problem. A specific herb, such as nettle seed, may be taken only for a short time, while progress is monitored and a balance is restored.

Depending on what your problem is, other herbs may be recommended. There are different herbal protocols for an overactive kidney and an underactive kidney.

Attention to the diet is important in keeping the kidney healthy and recovering from kidney disease: avoid iodized table salt and salty products such as soy sauce and foods that contain salt, opting instead for a small amount of whole sea salt in the diet; Minimize red meat, opting instead for fresh fish; eliminate eggs, dairy products and alcohol.

In kidney disease, it is critical that you continue to consult with your medical practitioner to monitor your condition. I recommend that you find a natural health practitioner who is experienced in treating kidney disease and can recommend herbs and diet specifically for you and your symptoms.
