I have an 11 year old boy with ADHD and an 8 year old girl with ADD. They are both very anxious children. My boy is allergic to ragweed and pollen and grasses group B. Chamomile is part of the ragweed family, so I can’t give that to him. Any suggestions about something I could give them? I would prefer to sooth them naturally. They love herbal teas.

Plants in the Compositae (daisy) family that are commonly used in western herbal medicine include ragweed, arnica, boneset, calendula, chamomile, yarrow, burdock, artemisia (including wormwood, mugwort and southernwood), thistles (including milk thistle), daisy, chicory, tansy, wild lettuce (all Lactuca species), goldenrod, dandelion. feverfew, Echinacea, butterbur, coltsfoot, elecampane, gravel root, grindelia and yarrow.

Calming herbs that are not in the Compositae family include lemon balm, linden flowers and St. John’s wort. These herbs all make good tasting teas.
