Is there an herb that will block or diminish the sense of taste between the tongue and the brain?

Gymnema sylvestre, prepared as a tea, impairs the ability to taste sugar by blocking sweet receptors on the tongue. It is used for this purpose in weight loss and diabetes. I don’t know of any other herbs that block the sense of taste.
