Pennyroyal in Pregnancy?

What is pennyroyal, and is it effective or recommeded to enhance contractions?

Pennyroyal is a member of the mint family. It is used in digestive problems with flatulence and abdominal spasms, to bring on the menstrual period and to strengthen contractions in pregnancy. I advise against using pennyroyal in pregnancy unless you are advised by a specialist in the medicinal use of herbs such as a herbalist midwife or medical or clinical herbalist.
