Is turmeric good for high blood pressure?

Turmeric, Curcuma longa, has many benefits such as a blood purifier, anti-oxidant, carminative, liver stimulant, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, etc. As for the cardiovascular system, it has been used to help lower blood cholesterol levels, reduce blood clotting and for its mild circulatory stimulant effects.

There are many causes of high blood pressure. I suppose that in a round about way it could reduce high blood pressure is some instances depending on the cause. However, it is not a herb that I reach for when blood pressure lowering is needed.
