I’m taking Depakote. What are the best herbs to take to minimize the masculizing effects of this medicine? I am already on the pill.

This is not a situation I have seen in my practice. However, hormonal balancing would be the way I would approach your situation. Herbs such as thyme, red clover and turmeric come to mind to help bind hormone receptors whilst cleavers and burdock can be used to help clear away excess hormones. Herbs such as vitex has a long history of use for its hormonal balancing abilities. I would also consider herbs such as birthroot and partridge berry.

Potassium is an important nutrient for hormonal regulation therefore a diet high in these foods would also be indicated - potatoes, bananas, vegetable rich broth, low sodium diet.
