Hair loss has many causes including mineral deficiencies, stress, autoimmune, thyroid, hormones & diet (allergies or sensitivities to foods). It is best to first consult a doctor who can obtain information through blood work.

Herbs such as Horsetail, Nettles, Bamboo are rich in vitamins and minerals including silica and these can encourage growth. Cayenne, Prickly Ash are herbs that stimulate the hair follicle and may encourage growth. Also minerals such as biotin, zinc, selenium and B vitamins are essential to healthy hair and hair growth.

An external rinse could include the herbs: Yarrow, Rosemary, Sage. 1 oz (30g) to 1 pint (500ml) water. Simmer gently for 5 minutes. Allow to cool. Strain before applying to scalp.

It is best to consult a Medical Herbalist in your area to determine what herbs would work best for your situation. For example if one is losing the eyebrows as well it may indicate thyroid is involved, etc.
