Restrictions on Plants to USA

We are located in Rochester, NY--across Lake Ontario from you. What are the restrictions for border crossing with plants from Canada into the US?

All our plants are preapproved for entry into the U.S. They are government inspected and come with the paperwork necessary to ensure smooth crossing of the border into the U.S.

If you visit our greenhouses in Goodwood, ask our sales staff to affix a special phytosanitary certificate on the invoice. When you arrive at the border on your return trip back to the U.S., show the customer officer the invoice and you will not have any problems.

If you order plants to be shipped to you, we take care of all of the paperwork. We transport the plants on our own trucks to Buffalo, New York, and ship them from there. This system has worked very well for decades with thousands of shipments and millions of plants shipped to the U.S.

In fact, for U.S. customers living in other states that have state restrictions on plants, our plants travel better because of the phytosanitary certificate sticker on every box of herbs we ship. Many U.S. herb growers do not get phytos and plants often end up delayed or even returned to the U.S. grower due.

Ensuring that plants are clean and certified by government is one of many extras that Richters gives its customers.
