Are marjoram and catnip related?

Yes, they are. They both belong to the same family, the Labiatae, or what botanists now call the Lamiaceae. This family is commonly known as the mint family. It includes the mints such as peppermint and spearmint, and as well many other important herbs such as rosemary and thyme. All of these herbs have the characteristic square stems and labiate (lip-like) flowers.
