HOT Thai Basil? Answered by: Conrad Richter Question from: April Mraz Posted on: April 2, 2003
I’m not sure which of your Thai Basil varieties is the HOT thai basil. Can you help me?
I must confess, I have never heard of a "hot" Thai basil. We carry three types: the standard or common Thai variety; a variety called ‘Queenette’; and a variety called ‘Siam Queen’. The last variety was developed for the ornamental flower market, but it has aroma and flavour and so it is also useful as a culinary herb. The strongest variety, at least to our noses and tastebuds, is ‘Queenette’; maybe that is the one you are looking for.
